Southeast London Foot & Ankle Clinic
Mr Weitzel is a founding member of the Southeast London Foot & Ankle Clinic (SELFAC), which brings together a group of foot health professionals including surgeons, podiatrists & physiotherapists to provide a comprehensive service to assess and treat patients with a wide range of foot & ankle complaints.
Our philosophy is to thoroughly assess patients’ foot problems and offer appropriate advice & treatment. This will require a highly personalised approach taking into consideration the patient’s individual clinical situation & functional requirements. The priority is to offer non-operative treatments when possible including e.g. analgesia, resting devices and orthotics, anti-inflammatory injections & specialised physio- & hydrotherapy. We have also been using modern non-invasive techniques such as Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) especially for causes of heel & chronic tendon pain with good success for several years.
When non-operative treatments have been exhausted or are unlikely to lead to a successful outcome, surgery may be considered by joint decision after a full and comprehensive discussion with the patient.
