Consultant Podiatrist

Matthew has been working clinically for over 12 years with a focus in musculoskeletal podiatry.  His interest is in the areas of diagnostic and interventional radiology around the foot and ankle.

Training Background

Matthew trained at UCL Medical School & London Foot Hospital and went on to undertake a Masters at London Metropolitan University. He holds a qualification in diagnostic ultrasound. Having vast experience working across a number of London NHS Trusts Matthew’s areas of interest are in the treatment of sports and dance related injuries and has great experience in the management of paediatric complaints. Matthew is the Clinical Podiatry Lead for the London Marathon and holds a Visiting Lecturer post at the University of Southampton.

Professional Practice

He is a member of the professional body’s Council and one of 4 elected vice-presidents. He worked on the successful project board at The Department of Health (England) which achieved independent prescribing for podiatrists. He currently also holds an Honorary Consultant post at North Middlesex Hospital, London. Matthew is the current Chair of the College of Podiatry Academic Board and was the past Chair of the College’s National Conference. He is a Fellow of The Royal Society for Public Health and is the Director of Communications for the Executive Board of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. His passion for promotion and growth of the profession is linked to the use of audit and outcome data to demonstrate the impact podiatry makes on the local and national health economy. Matthew has lectured nationally and internationally as an invited speaker.


Matthew is a founding member of the Southeast London Foot & Ankle Clinic (SELFAC), which brings together a group of foot health professionals including surgeons, podiatrists & physiotherapists to provide a comprehensive service to assess and treat patients with a wide range of foot & ankle complaints.
